Chris is a veteran broadcaster and presenter and has been a radio talk show host for over 17 years. He is a communications strategist by profession and in this capacity worked for the Gauteng Department of Health in their Communicable Diseases Directorate most notably dealing with HIV/AIDS and the Ebola Crisis. He is a theatre and television producer, sits on the board and is a judge of the Naledi Theatre Awards and is currently a Councillor for the City of Johannesburg.

Chris has hosted Arts Today on Radio Today and Kuns op RSG. His longest running current events and lifestyle show Rant and Rave with Chris Avant Smith ran for nearly a decade and is currently being revived on Radio Today.
